Veteran playwright Andrea J. Fulton's play ONE DROP will get 2 free performances in February in Brooklyn on Sat. 2/13 at 7pm at the Weeksville Heritage Center (158 Buffalo Avenue) and on Sat. 2/20 at 7pm at the PE Gorman Community Center (1381 Linden Blvd). In ONE DROP, welcome to the world of Charley Cade, a mulatto whose story in 1800's Louisiana is told by a multi-cultural cast and a small, live idiosyncratic band. His journey is one where triumph reigns despite power, love, faith and fear colliding all because of the color of his skin.
The performances are produced by the Weeksville Society, Nia Theatrical Production Company and the Fulton Arts Foundation. Admission to both events is FREE as a result of generous grants from Council Member Darlene Mealy, the Weeksville Society & Friends of Nia.
The cast features Ricon Wrenn, Chaunice L. Chapman, Jonathan Swain, Ben Rowe, Kristen Seavey, Mark Solari, Krista Jamison, Denise Fair-Grant, Illona S. Dixon & DaisyLee Sprauve.
The creative team includes Sabura Rashid (Director & Dramturg), Illona S. Dixon (Musical Director), Damian "DJ" Shaw (Costume Design) & Melissa Diaz (Stage Manager). The musicians for the shows are Bria Barfield, Guy Barfield, Jason Stein & Bremman Burgos.
Andrea J. Fulton (Playwright, Composer, Lyricist & Co-Producer) was born in Chicago, and is an award winning playwright, songwriter, producer and founder of the Fulton Arts Foundation: THE ANDERSON & BERT CADE FULTON FOUNDATION which supports performing arts aspirations of adults over 40. She is a member of the Drama Guild and also the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). She lives every moment in gratitude and likes to remind people, in her work and otherwise, of the importance of kind thought and deed and the power of love, faith and acceptance of others, as well as ourselves. A graduate of Northwestern University, Andrea has been an inspiring consultant and business leader managing community organizations, her own business ventures and serving in New York City government for over thirty years. Her career as a playwright began only 6 years ago when her play "One Drop" received the honor and pleasure of premiering at Crystal Field's Theater for the New City in the East Village. Subsequently, Ms. Field has continued support by co-producing her other plays as well.
