American Museum Of Natural History Kicks Off One Step Beyond On January 26 Featuring Dj Sets From Toro Y Moi, Nathaniel Jay (love Notes From Brooklyn), And Working Women

Guests Party to the Sounds and Visuals of World-class Performers in the Rose Center for Earth and Space.

Friday, January 26, 2018, 9 pm-1 am

Toro Y Moi (DJ set)

Born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, Chaz Bear (formerly Bundick) began his musical career playing in punk and indie rock bands in his early teenage years. He has been performing as Toro y Moi since 2001 and released his debut album, Causers of This, in early 2010. Since than he has released many more, including the most recent Boo Boo which was released in July 2017 by Carpark Records.

Nathaniel Jay (Love Notes from Brooklyn)

Nathaniel Jay is the owner and operator of record label Love Notes from Brooklyn, which has launched the careers of upstarts like Tape Hiss, released music from legends like Casey Tucker, and also given us records from modern stars like Octo Octa. The music is best described as emotionally wrought, yet dance floor friendly, and, interestingly, each record has its own unique "love note," authored by Jay himself. His love notes can also be found each month in the NYC dance music fanzine Love Injection. He's been DJing since the late '90s, collecting records for even longer than that, and his sets feature strictly vinyl culled from his impressive collection.

Working Women

"Working Women is a project rooted in elaboration, uncertainty, and persistence. We believe that all who identify as women are working women. This music is for them."
