The Christmas story - "Amahl and the Night Visitors", produced by the Manchester Community Theatre Players (MCTP) and Second Stage Professional Company, will be presented at the Hatbox Theatre Friday 12/21 & Saturday 12/22 at 7:30 pm and Sunday 12/23 at 2 pm.
This classic story (first presented on NBC Masterpiece Theater in 1951 and Hallmark Hall of Fame 1952 - 1965) relates the journey of the Three Kings to Bethlehem (the Epiphany). They stop to rest for the night in a poor village where they stay with a widow and her crippled child and experience a miracle. Villagers bring food and dance for the Kings. Sleep is interrupted by an attempted theft, but a miracle provides a joyous resolution.
The production is light opera, sung in English and very appropriate for children four and up and adults of all ages (one act 55 minutes in length). This is a novel holiday offering that through acting, singing and dance brings forth the joy and spirit of the holiday season.
Tickets are available through the Hatbox theatre box office @ 270 Loudon Road, Concord, NH 03301 or on line @ https://hatboxnh.com/ or by calling the box office at 603-715-2315.
