With a global reputation rich in musical history and English choral tradition, the Choir of King's College Cambridge bring a vibrant program of favourite choral classics and sparkling new repertoire to the Queensland Performing Arts Centre.
For over five-hundred years, the vaulted arches of the chapel at King's College Cambridge have rung rich with the distinctively pure tone of this special choir. Under the direction of Stephen Cleobury, the Choir will perform a selection of classics from their daily religious services. Included are three works by Australian composers Peter Sculthorpe, Brett Dean, and Carl Vine, written for the Choir's annual Christmas television and radio broadcasts for which they are globally renowned. Gabriel Fauré's touching and timeless Requiem highlights the second half of this rich and vibrant program, with the delicate beauty of his famed Pie Jesu, sung angelically by one of the young boy choristers. This program nods to the Choir's extraordinary heritage, with English works from their Tudor beginnings through to the present day. Don't miss the opportunity to see one of the finest Choir's in the world.
