The first trans love story of the Australian mainstage opens 6 March, after a 12-month COVID pause.

Anam Cara Productions will present The Marvelous Wonderettes this April. There will be one show in the Gold Coast at Spaghetti and Jazz Restaurant on 11th April, four shows in Brisbane at Calamvale Community College's CPAC from 16-18th April, as well as one show at the Sunshine Coast's Black Box Theatre in Nambour on 24th April.

As the second show of The Hive Collective's debut season, Elektra/Orestes is a contemporary adaptation of Socrates epic of the same name, although I imagine that Socrates might be rolling over in his grave...

Australia's most talked about mini-golf sensation, Pixar Putt, is extending its stay for a further three weeks, with more time for some mini-golf fun. Pixar Putt tee'd off at South Bank in the Christmas holidays and due to popular demand is extending its stay until 28 February.

Hello, Gaz Rhumbo! is a new absurdist comedy presented by Lightning Bolt Creative and written by Willem Whitfield, who also stars in the titular role, that made its debut at Backdock Arts on Saturday. It followed its protagonist's journey from life to death (literally), exploring themes of the innocence, sexuality and the uncertainty of life. For those that know me personally, know that I love absurdism and as a theatre-maker myself, I love to delve into its waters whenever I can. It's a form of theatre that's hard to do and when creating a new work that resides within that genre, it's often easier to flop then to soar. Knowing that, I applaud Whitfield and his company for delving into such uncharted waters. Their work didn't flop, but it also didn't soar.

In welcome news for Queensland audiences, from today the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) will operate at 100% capacity and the Brisbane season of Shrek The Musical has been extended by a week due to popular demand. 

Queensland Performing Arts Centre's (QPAC's) Club Cremorne is back by popular demand from 28 January to 6 March 2021.

An interview with Brisbane artist Rebel Lyons

Last night, QPAC's Lyric Theatre transformed into our favourite green ogre's swamp and it is quite the spectacle. And the musical spares no expense with only the most dazzling costumes, set and puppets. Whilst I never in my wildest dreams imagined that I'd be laughing and cheering through a mask at the theatre, it was worth it to be immersed in such a world of colour, hope and love. From Fiona getting her own fairytale ending, to Farquad re-uniting with his long-lost father, to the Pinocchio finally accepting himself for who he was... the musical has it all.

The wait is finally 'ogre'!  Shrek The Musical will open its Queensland premiere season in Queensland Performing Arts Centre's (QPAC's) Lyric Theatre tonight Thursday 14 January 2021 running until 7 February 2021. 

Following the Premier's announcement today of a three-day lockdown for Greater Brisbane, Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) will be cancelling all performances at the Centre scheduled from 3.00pm today Friday 8 January until 6.00pm Monday 11 January 2021.

Brisbane audiences are in for a powerful and unsettling hour as Sam Shepard's Fool For Love comes to Brisbane, at the Princess Theatre from 27 - 30 January for 5 performances.
