Award-winning Australian band, The Whitlams are touring throughout September 2015, playing shows in cities across Australia in Newcastle, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne.

"We've settled into a pattern of going around the country as a four-piece once every 12 months. It's the most raucous three weeks of the year for me and It can't come around too soon," said Tim Freedman founding member and singer song writer of the group.

The present line up with Jak Housden on guitar, Warwick Hornby on bass and Terepai Richmond on drums has been together since 2001. They recorded the number 1 album Torch The Moon together in 2002 and the critically acclaimed Gold Album Little Cloud in 2006. On this tour they will bring into the light some recently neglected songs from those two albums - tracks like Cries to Hard, Best Work, Been Away Too Long and Fondness Makes the Heart Grow Absent - as well as celebrating the classics from the earlier albums like the 1998 ARIA Song of the Year No Aphrodisiac and the always relevant Blow Up the Pokies .

After many years of perseverance & constant touring The Whitlams had their breakthrough album in 1997. At the 1998 ARIA Awards, The Whitlams won Best Group as well as Song of the Year and Best Independent Release for their third album Eternal Nightcap. In 2011 this album was placed 27th on the ABC's My Favourite Album poll, and more recently was voted no. 17 in JJJ's Hottest Australian Albums of All Time.

The Whitlams recorded output, spans seven albums since 1993, and includes the double platinum Love This City, and Truth, Beauty & A Picture of You - Best of the Whitlams which sat in the Top 10 for six weeks. More recently, front man Tim Freedman released a solo album on Sony titled Australian Idle and toured the country in his one man show Everybody's Talkin' 'bout me about the life and music of Harry Nilsson.

The band is pleased to announce a wonderful range of opening acts on the tour. In Sydney the increasingly respected and successful Perry Keyes with his full band, in Melbourne Battleships and in Brisbane Amber Rae Slade and the Mighty Big|Brave Noise.

The Whitlams put on a superb performance at the Tivoli tonight. Years of touring have meant that their shows are immensely polished and professional yet still remain personal and light-hearted. They certainly showed why they have been such a long-standing force in the Australian music scene.
