One of Australia's favourite bands, The Whitlams are returning to the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) for one night only on Friday 21 June 2013.

Performing classics from each of their studio albums, Tim, Jak, Warwick and Terepai will give their hits the full orchestral treatment in QPAC's Concert Hall with the accompaniment of Australia's only all-female symphony orchestra Symphonie des Femmes as a Brisbane exclusive within their 2013 concert tour.

The concept of performing with an all female orchestra was conceived by The Whitlams front man Tim Freedman to add a touch of glamour to a luxurious corporate function, and the event was such a success that the orchestra joined the band for two more concerts in Sydney's State Theatre later that year.

QPAC's Concert Hall performance will be Brisbane's first time to experience the Whitlams with Symphonie des Femmes and promises a concert that is not to be missed, featuring favourite classics including No Aphrodisiac, Thank You, Blow up the Pokies and Fondness Makes the Heart Grow Absent and a few surprises along the way.

Formed in the early nineties, The Whitlams played hundreds of gigs between Sydney and Byron in these earlier years thanks to their trusty Kingswood Station Wagon, which they believe paved their way to becoming a "real band". In 1993 they released their first album Introducing The Whitlams.

Lead singer and pianist Tim Freedman's collaboration with symphony orchestras since 2004 has lead to concerts that create an increased depth to The Whitlams experience.

The current line-up has remained unchanged for the past seven years and four albums, and consists of Tim Freedman (piano and vocals), Jak Housden (guitar), Warwick Hornby (bass guitar) and Terepai Richmond (drums).

Following their popular Eternal Nightcap with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra concerts at QPAC in 2011, don't miss the boys' return performance. To find out more about The Whitlams go http://www.thewhitlams.com/NEWS/
