After a sell-out, award-nominated run and a West End transfer, Stuart Slade's BU21 will have its Australian premiere at The Old 505 Theatre from February 8 with an opening night on February 9. Outhouse Theatre, the company behind acclaimed productions of The Aliens and 4 Minutes 12 Seconds, is thrilled to introduce local audiences to one of Britain's most exciting, emerging playwrights.

BU21 follows six Londoners in the aftermath of a fictitious terrorist attack. In turns terrifying, inspiring, brutal, heart-breaking and hilarious, this is verbatim theatre from the very near future.

Based on real testimonies gathered from a variety of terrorist incidents including the 7/7 London bombings, 9/11, the Paris attacks and the 2013 Westgate shopping mall attack, BU21 is terrifyingly credible,

Writer, Stuart Slade, said of the play: "Terrorism is an inescapable part of the reality of life today, especially if you live in a capital city. In London, in particular, it's not a question of if there'll be another attack - but of when, and how bad. It's a play that faces the darkest of tragedies square in the face, but also leaves room for optimism and hope."

Erin Taylor (Slut for WITS Femme Fatale) directs a cast that includes
Jessica-Belle Keogh (Slut WITS Femme Fatale), Whitney Richards (Tim Winton's Shrine) and Jeremy Waters (4 Minutes 12 Seconds, The Aliens).

Outhouse is excited to utilise the renovations enacted at The Old 505 Theatre for 2017. With the installation of 3phase electrics and Zircon air-conditioning, the improved facilities are a great boost to Sydney's independent theatre landscape.

BU21 continues Outhouse Theatre's mission of producing challenging, contemporary work that addresses the complexities of living in the HERE and NOW. Work that makes us FEEL as well as THINK.
