Made famous by The Carpenters and Sesame Street in equal measure, these lyrics reflect the joy of singing that is the philosophy behind the upcoming Brisbane Sings concert in Queensland Performing Arts Centre's (QPAC) Concert Hall on Saturday 21 September 2013.

Brisbane Sings is a celebration of singing by Brisbanites, for Brisbanites. Rarely do audiences have the chance to experience the power of 500 massed voices; presented in a one night only concert, by the Queensland Show Choir and QPAC, as part of the Brisbane Festival.

The brainchild of Craig Allister Young, of Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Masterchef 2011 fame, and David Kidd, from The Ten Tenors,Brisbane Sings combines 500 singers with some of the world's greatest lyrics and tunes, promising an evening of pure joy.

QPAC Chief Executive John Kotzas said that audiences can anticipate a wonderful experience at Brisbane Sings.

"There is great energy when even small groups of people join together to share their love of singing, but with voices on this scale, and such a terrific program, this concert promises to be spectacular.

"We are pleased to be supporting the local choral community and are delighted to welcome back Craig Allister Young and David Kidd to presentBrisbane Sings again at QPAC for only the second time in the event's history.

"I am proud that QPAC's own choir, which has been managed as part of the Centre's artistic program since 2008, will be able to add their voices to this massed choir and to their public performance experience," said Mr Kotzas.

Musical Director Craig Allister Young said he is excited to be moving Brisbane Sings back into the QPAC Concert Hall this year.

"We first performed Brisbane Sings at QPAC in 1993, and 20 years later, we're back for more! The choirs are sounding terrific in the rehearsals and it's going to be an amazing night of contemporary choral performances," said Mr Young.

Brisbane's leading choral institutions will perform individually and en-masse in QPAC's Concert Hall. Songs will include Hallelujah Chorus, Music from the 'Wizard of Oz', Do you hear the People Sing from Les Miserables, and Freddy Mercury's groundbreaking Bohemian Rhapsody.

The choirs performing in Brisbane Sings are the Queensland Show Choir (Vox Populus, Voiceworks, Stella Voce, Poco Voci), the QPAC Choir, St Edmunds College, St Mary's College, Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Queensland University Musical Society, All Saints Parish Primary School, Queensland Academy of Creative Industries, Viva La Musica, Mount Alvernia College, Cannon Hill College and Mansfield State High School.

In 2013, the Brisbane Sings celebration is bigger and better than before, taking to the QPAC Concert Hall stage for one performance only. Don't miss out as tickets are going fast. To book go to www.qpac.com.au or phone 136 246.
