Sydney's Acacia Quartet will perform quartet pieces by Elena Kats-Chernin and a world premiere work by Sydney composer Lyle Chan at the Sandgate Town Hall tonight, 6th October at 7:30 pm.
Acacia Quartet developed a special relationship with Elena Kats-Chernin when she heard them play her music in 2011. Kats-Chernin’s invitation to record her complete work for string quartet resulted in the world-premiere recording made in the presence of the composer. The CDs of the complete string quartets by Elena Kats-Chernin will be released in 2012 on Vexations840.
The Acacia Quartet is comprised of remarkable professional musicians: Lisa Stewart and Myee Clohessy (violins), Stefan Duwe (viola) and Anna Martin-Scrase (cello). Their diverse careers led them to play in chamber ensembles and orchestras the world over before forming the Acacia Ensemble in 2010.
Tickets are $30 (adult), $25 (concession), and $5 (children 5-11) and available at www.musicbythesea.com.au.
