The second of two stunning concerts in the Kawai Piano Series at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) proves that anything two can do, four can do better, as a pair of revered pianists reunites to delight audiences in Four Hands.
Bernard Lanskey and Stephen Emmerson, who have been making music together for decades, will take to the stage in their charming concert of duets, Four Hands in QPAC's Concert Hall on Sunday 3 August 2014.
The concert opens on the theme of friendship with Brahm's deeply touching homage to Robert Schumann, Variations on a theme of Schuman, a neglected masterpiece written in honour of his friend.
The performance will culminate in Schubert's dramatic and heartrendingly beautiful Fantasie, often reflected on as the greatest piano duet ever written.
Four Hands will also feature Andrew Schultz's expansive variations, written specifically for the duo to complement this program.
Lanskey and Emmerson met as undergraduates at the University of Queensland, and later studied together in London under the inspirational pianist Peter Wallfisch.
Four Hands will reunite the pair once more, as Lanskey returns from Singapore where he is now based and works as Director of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.
This not-to-be-missed performance is the last in the Kawai Piano Series at QPAC, so make sure you secure your tickets for this one-off event.
