Green Day's AMERICAN IDIOT to have Australian Premiere at QPAC this February

American Idiot, the high-octane rock musical based on Green Day's Grammy® Award-winning multi-platinum album, finally makes its way down under for its Australian premiere season at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC).

The Playhouse, QPAC will be transformed into a grungy mosh pit for the exclusive to Brisbane, Australian premiere season, running from 23 February 2017.

Winner of two Tony® Awards and the 2010 Grammy® Award winner for Best Musical Show Album,American Idiot features an all-Australian cast and includes every song from Green Day's album American Idiot, as well as several songs from follow-up release, 21st Century Breakdown.

Developed by Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and Tony Award® winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening), American Idiot boldly took the American musical in a new direction, capturing not just the sound of a generation, but also the frustrations, fears, dreams and challenges of life in the media-saturated, post-9/11 era.

American Idiot tells the story of three lifelong friends who are grappling with the decision to either challenge the status quo and break out of their aimless rut or to remain in the safe confines of their suburban existence. Their quest for true meaning in a world full of violence and dissolution leads them on a journey of self-discovery, heartache, and revelation.

To helm this exhilarating project is award winning Australian Director Craig Ilott (Hedwig and the Angry Inchand Smoke and Mirrors).

With the full cast and live on-stage band yet to be announced this Australian premiere season of Green Day's American Idiot promises to melt the walls of The Playhouse, QPAC.
