Beckett's ENDGAME Comes To Queensland Performing Arts Centre

Samuel Beckett's Absurdist masterpiece, ENDGAME, is shake & stir theatre co's third production in their 10-year anniversary season and will be presented at the Cremorne Theatre, Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) from 9 August 2016.

It follows the sell-out production of Roald Dahl's George's Marvellous Medicine and soon to be sold out season of Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights.

Endgame paints a tragically comic portrait of lives lived, loathed and lost. Of characters hoping for answers in a world without hope. Hamm, Clov, Nagg and Nell are four lost souls contemplating the inevitable arrival of their end. Isolated in a non-descript room, each reflects upon their life's journey while grappling to find meaning in an otherwise meaningless world. Amidst this darkness comes unexpected moments of sheer joy, serving as a poignant reminder of Beckett's accurate observations of both the resilience and mortality of the human condition.

Together on stage are veterans of stage, film & TV - Robert Coleby, Jennifer Flowers and John McNeil. They are joined by one of QLD's favourites, Leon Cain, in the role of Clov.

The production will be brought to vivid life by shake & stir's award winning team of creatives - Michael Futcher (Director), and 2015Matilda Award winners Josh McIntosh (Designer) and Jason Glenwright (Lighting Designer).

shake & stir's Artistic Director, Ross Balbuziente said Endgame is particularly important to the company as it delivers its 10-year season.

"During our 10-year anniversary we wanted to program a production that celebrated the work of our most experienced QLD artists. Endgame allows us to do just that. I fondly remember, as a secondary student, watching Jennifer Flowers and Robert Coleby on stage, being in awe of the mastery of their craft, their command of the audience and their ability to connect to me as if I was the only one in the theatre.

"It's so wonderful to now invite them to work with shake & stir and I'm certain that their performances, together with the rest of our exceptionally talented team, will inspire the next generation of theatre goers and makers," Balbuziente says.
