On Friday November 12th, Historical Interpreter Darrell Rivers (@Lord.Rivers) guides viewers on a journey through the wars of the mid-19th Century through the eyes of Sir Percy Wyndham an eccentric adventurer, professional mercenary, and soldier of fortune. In a solo interpretation, Sir Percy Wyndham: A Soldier of Fortune in the American Civil War, viewers will discover what these adventurers seeker; from mercenary motivations to revolutionary ideals. Join Sir Percy as he offers an eye-witness account of conflicts spanning five continents, including campaigns of the Crimean War; Indian Rebellion; Wars of Italian Independence; and the American Civil War. When one thinks of Civil War Generals, an eccentric Englishman named Sir Percy Wyndham hardly comes to mind; yet the American Civil War was replete with soldiers from around the world, seeking the next great adventure. The year is 1878 and Sir Percy Wyndham has encountered many an international battlefield. He rioted in the streets of Paris; landed on the shores of Sicily with Giuseppe Garibaldi; led American Unionist Cavalry against the Rebels of Virginia; and, lately, has taken up ballooning in Rangoon! Wherever there is war, there are bound to be professional soldiers, ready to fight with an army that offers the greatest boon and bounty. Some may call them "mercenaries," while others fancy Soldiers of Fortune. Darrell Rivers is a historian specialising in 19th Century British & American Military History. He works as a historical advisor for TV & Film and hosts two of the largest living history events on the West Coast annually in Huntington Beach, California. In living history, Darrell portrays figures from the American Revolution, Napoleonic Wars, Crimean War, Italian Risorgimento, and the American Civil War. Darrell attended the American University and is a former Associate Staffer for the Cultural Attache of the Embassy of Iraq in Washington, D.C. He currently splits his time between Southern California and London, England. Darrell is a member of the Crimean War Research Society and speaks Italian & Arabic.
