On Friday December 10, History At Play, LLC (HAP, LLC) celebrates the final episode of Pay-Per-HAP 2021. Joined by professional educator, actor, and historical interpreter Hilary Wood, HAP, LLC livestreams direct to you from the United Kingdom in Episode #61, An Audience with Queen Elizabeth I.
Welcome to the court of Her Sovereign Majesty Elizabeth, Queen of England, Queen of France, Queen of Ireland, Defender of the Faith, Supreme Governor of the Church in England. It is the 1590s and her Majesty has many weighty matters occupying her mind: Spain poses a constant threat; her courtiers display the most unruly behaviour; and then, of course, there is the question of succession. In spite of this, Her Soverign Majesty is in the prime of her life-- and a goddess no less! The Queen exhibits good spirits and is well disposed to grant her audience an intimate understanding of the challenges, as she grapples with the issues of the day and reflects on the twists and turns of her life and reign. She possesses a new portrait that she is keen to show to her new friends and adoring subjects, and if you flatter her sufficiently, she may invite your petitions and queries!
Recording viewable for 48 hours! For those attending the livestream Friday evening, the virtual theatre lobby opens at approximately 7:15pm ET. Viewers who request entry after 7:25pm ET will be admitted at the Hosts discretion after opening remarks. All patrons gain access to the Digital Playbill, prior to the program, and to BONUS MATERIALS following the event.
Guest Artist: Hilary Wood has brought history to life for over 20 years as a historical interpreter. Previously trained at East 15 Acting School, Wood holds a degree in Acting, awarded by The University of East London. After completing her studies, Wood accumulated an extensive performance resume before receiving her first role with Past Pleasures Ltd. in 2000, joining a dedicated team of actors to celebrate British History at the Millennium Dome. Since then, she has undertaken a wide array of historical roles, from monarchs to peasantry, and everything in between! Wood established and runs two successful Theatrical Education Companies, one of which offers historical characters to enhance school's history curricula. Currently, Wood works with historic sites, such as Dover Castle, Audley End House & Gardens, and Eltham Palace with English Heritage. She also provides interpretive programming at The Tower of London for school groups. In conjunction with Hatfield House, she tours An Audience with Queen Elizabeth I.
Running time: Approx. 45 minutes, followed by real-time audience Q&A moderated by Pay-Per-HAP host and History At Play, LLC Founder and Artistic Director J. Kalaora. Episodes are viewable for 48 hours after live stream.
