In the tradition of beloved seasonal specials, Blackhurst, Caruso, and Stritch plan to perform swinging arrangements of “Christmas Waltz,” Kay Thompson’s “Holiday Season,” “Sleigh Ride,” “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm,” and “Snow,” among other favorites.

 

The cast includes KLEA BLACKHURST who is an actress, singer, and comedienne known for her award-winning tribute to Ethel Merman, Everything the Traffic Will Allow. She recently appeared at Carnegie Hall as Emily Whitman in Follies in Concert. She appeared Off-Broadway with Hayley Mills in Party Face, at City Center Stage 2.

 

Blackhurst starred in Hazel during its world premiere production at Drury Lane in Chicago, as Dolly Levi in the Fiftieth Anniversary production of Hello, Dolly! at The Goodspeed Opera House and as Miss Lemon in The Nutty Professor, directed by legendary comedian, Jerry Lewis and featuring a score by Marvin Hamlisch and Rupert Holmes. Klea also played Rose in Drury Lane Chicago’s production of Gypsy.

 

She’s performed with symphony orchestras and in theatrical productions across the country and abroad including the London Palladium presentation of Jerry Herman’s Broadway with Angela Lansbury, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra tribute to Marvin Hamlisch, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, 15 Mabel Mercer Foundation Cabaret Conventions, New York’s Town Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, New York’s 92nd Street Y Lyrics & Lyricists, The Chicago Humanities Festival and as Ado Annie in the BBC concert of Oklahoma! in London’s Royal Albert Hall.

 

Joining Klea is JIM CARUSO who most recently performed the role of Theodore Whitman in Follies in Concert at Carnegie Hall. He made his Broadway debut alongside Liza Minnelli in the Tony Award-winning Liza’s at The Palace, singing, dancing, and celebrating the music and arrangements of Kay Thompson and the Williams Brothers. He has won seven MAC, nine BroadwayWorld, and two Summit Awards for his work in nightclubs.

 

At Carnegie Hall, he has performed with the New York Pops in tributes to Barry Manilow, Kander & Ebb, Bing Crosby (with Rosemary Clooney) celebrating Bing Crosby, and Bob Hope & Bing Crosby (with Michael Feinstein). He was also honored to sing with a bevy of Broadway stars at President Clinton’s First State Dinner at the White House.

 

For twenty-one years, Jim has hosted the weekly showbiz bash, Jim Caruso’s Cast Party” at Birdland, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and across the country. He also stormed YouTube with seventy-six episodes of “Pajama Cast Party.” Jim produces the weekly Broadway at Birdland concert series and performs weekly with Billy Stritch at Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle Hotel.

 

Rounding out the cast is BILLY STRITCH who is one of the premier singer-pianists in the New York and national jazz and cabaret scenes. A chance meeting with Liza Minnelli in March of 1991 resulted in her asking him to create vocal arrangements for the record-breaking extravaganza Liza Stepping Out at Radio City Music Hall. In addition to his 25-year collaboration with Liza, Billy recently toured with the legendary Tony Bennett as Tony’s pianist and musical director.

 

A solo entertainer in his own right, he has performed his own shows (including tributes to Mel Tormé and Cy Coleman) in concert halls and nightclubs across the country. Billy also serves as music director for such leading vocalists as Linda Lavin, Christine Ebersole, Paulo Szot, and Marilyn Maye. He is the co-writer of the Grammy-winning song “Does He Love You” recorded by Reba McEntire and Linda Davis.

Lead Singer
Jim Caruso made his Broadway debut alongside Liza Minnelli in the smash hit Liza’s At The Palace!, singing, dancing and celebrating the music and arrangements of the late, great Kay Thompson and the Williams Brothers. The show was honored with a 2009 Tony Award for Best Special Event and the recording was nominated for a Grammy. For his nightclub work, Caruso has won seven MAC Awards (including 2022 Show of the Year), two BackStage Magazine Bistro Awards and nine BroadwayWorld Awards for his sold-out shows at Birdland, Arci’s Place, The Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel, Eighty-Eights, and The Russian Tea Room. He has also performed runs in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Palm Beach, Dallas, Houston, Little Rock, and London. Jim’s most recent CD is "The Sunday Set," recorded live from Birdland Theater with pianist/singer Billy Stritch. His solo studio recording, “The Swing Set,” was called “a top-drawer first-rate swinger” by Jazz Times and “a completely entertaining experience” by All About Jazz. “Christmas at Birdland,” in which he harmonizes with Billy Stritch and Klea Blackhurst, soared to #2 on iTunes and #6 on the Billboard jazz chart. His first CD, "Caruso Live and In Person," went to #1 on both the album and singles charts at Outvoice.com. Caruso was the founding member of the award-winning jazz vocal and comedy trio, Wiseguys. After performing in an all-star Inaugural extravaganza, they were invited to sing at President Clinton’s First State Dinner at the White House in an evening hosted by Lauren Bacall. As a soloist, Jim has performed at Carnegie Hall in concerts with the New York Pops along with Barry Manilow, Dionne Warwick, Rosemary Clooney, and Michael Feinstein. He and Billy Stritch have also enjoyed a thirteen-year residency at Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle Hotel. Caruso hosted "Broadway On Broadway" in Times Square for a crowd of 100,000 theater fans, hosted MAC Awards at Town Hall in Manhattan and co-hosted the Drama Desk Award webcasts for four years. “Cast Party,” his radio series, was heard on BroadwayWorld.com for four years, his thirteen-episode radio series, “Here! On Broadway” was honored with a Summit Award. He interviewed Broadway celebrities for CityBuzz, which was streamed to hotels, taxi cabs and Jet Blue screens. Jim also celebrated Manhattan nightlife every week for five years on “New York Minute,” which was heard on Legends Radio 100.3 FM. On the small screen, Jim was seen co-starring with Kathie Lee Gifford on Showtime Television in “Personal Assistant,” which was written and directed by Charles Busch. He also co-starred on the Nostalgia Network variety sit-com, “Café DuArt” for two seasons. As a writer, Jim has contributed to InStyle Magazine, Theatermania and InTheater Magazine. He has produced and booked television talk and entertainment programs like "Jim J. & Tammy Faye" and "Fox After Breakfast," and was a Field Producer for E! Entertainment Television, working on "Celebrity Profiles" and covering the Tony Awards. Since 2002, he has hosted a weekly Monday night showbiz bash at Birdland called "Jim Caruso's Cast Party," which has brought him nine BroadwayWorld Awards, four New York Nightlife Awards, the Sidney Meyer Award, and the 2022 MAC Award for Show of the Year. He and musical director Billy Stritch have taken the Party on the road, celebrating talent in London, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco and on the high seas with the Dave Koz & Friends Jazz Cruises. He's also hosted Very Special All-Star Cast Party events for Jazz at Lincoln Center, and twice at The Town Hall in NYC. During the 2020/2021 quarantine, Jim stormed the Cast Party Network on YouTube with 82 episodes of "Pajama Cast Party," and was joined by some of the greatest musical talent in the world.


Billy Stritch

Billy Stritch began his career in Houston, Texas, where he formed the vocal trio Montgomery, Plant and Stritch. The trio performed all over New York and Europe from 1983 until they disbanded in 1990. A chance meeting with Liza Minnelli in March of 1991 resulted in her asking him to create vocal arrangements for the record-breaking extravaganza Liza Stepping Out at Radio City Music Hall. In addition to his 25-year collaboration with as accompanist and opening act for Liza, Billy recently toured with the legendary Tony Bennett as Tony’s pianist and musical director. A solo entertainer in his own right, he has performed his own shows (including tributes to Mel Tormé and Cy Coleman) in concert halls and nightclubs across the country. Billy also serves as music director for such leading vocalists as Marilyn Maye, Linda Lavin, Linda Eder, Christine Ebersole and Paulo Szot. He is the co-writer of the Grammy-winning song “Does He Love You” recorded by Reba McEntire and Linda Davis. The single reached the number one spot on the Billboard Country music chart, winning a Grammy Award and selling in excess of five million copies along the way. Billy has arranged music for many top performers and created the arrangements for “Minnelli On Minnelli” and “Liza’s At The Palace”, both at Broadway’s famed Palace Theater. He was also seen onstage playing the role of Oscar in the Tony Award winning Broadway revival of “42nd Street” in 2001. "Billy's Place" During Covid-19, he created his own weekly Facebook live-stream show “Billy’s Place”, celebrating the Great American Songbook with songs and stories from his varied career. He was one of the first artists to pivot into online performances and even with the return of live performances he is continuing the show most every Thursday evening at 8:00 pm EST on his BILLY STRITCH Facebook page. He has recorded five solo CDs and his latest CD release “Billy’s Place” (Club44 Records) is a collection of his favorite songs from these online concerts.

She’s done the requisite Law and Order: SVU, spent a week on Sesame Street and was a musical guest on The Rosie O’Donnell Show. Theatre credits include: in New York – A Tree Grows In Brooklyn, Bingo, By Jupiter, Radio Gals, Oil City Symphony; Regionally – Ragtime, Call Me Madam, Chicago, The Great American Trailer Park Musical, Red Hot and Blue and Anything Goes. She’s featured on “Jule Styne in Hollywood” on PS Classics; the original cast recordings of Bingo and Radio Gals; “Lost in Boston IV,” “Unsung Irving Berlin,” and “The Best of Off Broadway.” Klea is a Distinguished Alumna of The University of Utah and created Klea Blackhurst’s Old School, a 4 week master class, a practical application of the American Musical Theatre. Producer/Director/MC
John F. McDonald, Jr. founded the Quincy Community Theatre in 1983, and served as its President. He was the Executive Producer and Director of many critically acclaimed theatricals events including three major musical productions, a special celebrity concert series and a children’s theatre series for over ten years. Mr. McDonald then went on with his production company, JM Productions to produce and direct celebrity productions including “An Evening with Broadway & Gospel star Jennifer Holiday”, “An Evening with Robbie O’Connell and the Clancy Brothers”, “An Evening with Jane Olivor”(her last public performance), “An Evening with Livingston Taylor” and a local celebrity production of “Love Letters” staring former WBZ TV personalities Joyce Kulhawik, Scott Whale, Suzanne Bates and Tom Bergeron as well as former WHDH personality Sara Edwards with Kiss 108’s Mat Schaeffer. Mr. McDonald conceived and produced the wildly successful “Randy Rainbow 6 City New England Tour” in August of 2017 taking Randy to Boston, MA., Ogunquit, ME., Montpelier, VT., Ptown, MA., and Providence, RI. The sold out tour, conceived by Mr. McDonald, launched Randy’s current National and International tours that are playing to sold out theatres till this day. Mr. McDonald has also produced events in conjunction with the City of Quincy at the Quincy Promenade, The Hancock/Adams Common and has served as an officer on the annual Blues Festival Committee. Through his production company, JM Productions & “Rising Stars”, Mr. McDonald was responsible for organizing a series of concerts and events that included but not limited to: Jazz, Dixieland, Big Band/Swing, Broadway, Irish/Celtic and New Age performances. Mr. McDonald is the creator of The Quincy Cultural Center, Inc, a non-profit organization dedicated to building the City’s first cultural community arts center. Mr. McDonald’s “Rising Stars” dance, drama and voice workshops brings Broadway talent to Quincy conducting master classes, week long workshops during February & April school vacations and for two weeks in the summer. “Rising Stars” also arranges for group sales at all the Boston theatres which include discounted tickets, Q & A with the casts & tours backstage of the theatres. Many of his students have gone on to the finest colleges as dance, drama & voice majors and some have been cast in roles on Broadway and National tours. In Boston Mr. McDonald was responsible for booking entertainment for two summers at the weekly farmers market at The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy and for three seasons at The Boston Harborfest. He has also assisted super-personality Lauren Bacall as well as actresses Julie Harris, Parker Posey and author Elaine May. Mr. McDonald has assisted and dressed actors Charles Durning, Charles Nelson Riley, Matthew Broderick, Alan Arkin, Sir Paul McCartney, Kiss and Aerosmith. Mr. McDonald has worked on and off Broadway holding many positions and has one national tour and three Broadway credits. Mr. McDonald has also held positions in many Boston professional theatres as Assistant House Manager and Dresser at The Wilbur and Colonial Theatres. He has been an usher, dresser, door and security person and customer service phone operator at four other Boston theatres.
