The Alexander Children's Theatre School (ACTS), in residence at the Umbrella Community Arts Center (40 Stow Street, Concord, MA), is pleased to announce that tickets are now on sale for their upcoming production of YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN: THE MUSICAL, running Friday, June 3 at 7:30 pm, Saturday, June 4 at 2:00 and 7:30 pm, and Sunday, June 5 at 4:00 pm.
From the legendary mind of Mel Brooks and his Tony Award-winning collaborators from The Producers comes this monster new musical comedy! Grandson of Victor Frankenstein (of Mary Shelley fame), Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced "Fronk-en-steen") inherits his family's estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchbacked side-kick and a leggy lab assistant, Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors. When he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather's, hilarity ensues. Young Frankenstein is rated PG-13.
Young Frankenstein is directed by EMACT/DASH Award nominee Lenni Kmiec with choreography by IRNE Award nominee Gillian Mariner Gordon and music direction by Benjamin Tan. Stephanie C. Mavrides is the Executive Producer. The cast of 24 features Nicole Albanese, Lucy Arrigo, Antoine Baize, Ryan Baker, Tristan Bannerman, Sydney Crain, Camille Cuzzupoli, Camilla Eld, Charlie Emery, Grace Glionna, Jayden Heller, Liam Huston, Will Jevon, Sara Kimble, Alexis Kirkpatrick, Tim Lucey, Henry Patton, Angela Salisbury, Hannah Wait, Noah Wells, Elliot White, Harry White, Monica Whitlock, and Taylor Winn, hailing from such towns as Concord, Carlisle, Bedford, Billerica, Medfield, Lincoln, Sudbury, Waltham, Weston, Ayer, and Stow.
The show has a book by Mel Brooks (Blazing Saddles, The Producers, Spaceballs) and Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray), with music and lyrics by Mel Brooks. The original 2007 Broadway production was directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (Crazy For You, The Producers, Contact).
