The national tour of the hilarious comedy You Say Tomato, I Say Shut Up!, a relationship comedy that People Magazine called "Laugh Out Loud," will have its Boston area premiere at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, MA from April 13 - May 22, 2016.

After 15 years of marriage, writers-actors-and real-life-married-couple Annabelle Gurwitch (Dinner and A Movie, Fired!) and Emmy Award winner Jeff Kahn (The Ben Stiller Show, The 40-Year-Old Virgin) have adapted their hilarious and often moving memoir, You Say Tomato, I Say Shut Up! for the stage. Another real-life married couple, Michael and Mara Greer, star in the Boston area production.

This 80-minute tour de force takes a humorous look at a relationship that seems challenged from the start by powerful, opposing personalities. After trials and tribulations, they learn to navigate the conflicts that come with romance, money and children by embracing each other's differences, taking on parenting as a competitive sport and dropping out of couple's therapy. Their delightfully crazy lifestyle has managed to keep their relationship intact, up-ending every idea you ever had about living "happily ever after."

Michael Greer reprises his role as Jeff Kahn after successful runs in Phoenix, Denver, Philadelphia, San Diego, and Pittsburgh. He is even more excited to be doing the show with the real love of his life, Mara. Michael was last seen raising the praise in Pittsburgh CLO's production of Altar Boyz (Luke). Other regional credits include Shrek: The Musical (Big Bad Wolf) at North Shore Music Theatre, Guys & Dolls with Pittsburgh Public Theater, The Full Monty (Keno), Les Miserables, 42nd Street, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and Legally Blonde with Pittsburgh CLO, Miss Saigon (2010 Tour), Beauty and the Beast (Gaston) and Footloose (Willard) with Pittsburgh Musical Theater, and Jesus Christ Superstar at Kansas City Starlight.

Mara Newbery will be making her You Say Tomato debut! Mara's favorite part of this production is getting to play opposite her handsome husband every night. She says "Thanks for 'perfectly matching my crazy' Michael!" Her credits include A Christmas Story, the Musical (Broadway, 1st National Tour, Madison Square Garden), Shrek, the Musical (1st National Tour, London), On Your Toes (New York City Center Encores), Honeymoon in Vegas (Paper Mill Playhouse), 42nd Street (Maine State Music Theatre), Guys and Dolls (Pittsburgh Public), Les Miserables (North Shore Music Theatre), Hello, Dolly! (Cape Playhouse), and The Full Monty (Pittsburgh CLO). Mara has choreographed for the Seattle 5th Avenue Theatre, Burns Park Players, North Shore Music Theatre, Paper Mill Playhouse, and Plymouth State University.

You Say Tomato, I Say Shut Up!, is touring the country with stops in Boston, Phoenix, Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh. The book was developed through sold-out performances at The Comedy Central Theatre and Upright Citizens Brigade and made its New York premiere at The New York Comedy Festival in 2009.

Playhouse Productions Inc.
