The Williamstown Theater Festival has announced details of its Fridays @ 3 readings series. The Fridays @ 3 series showcases the work of emerging playwrights and runs Friday afternoons at 3:00 during the summer. Admission is $5.
The series will begin on July 2 with HOW.WHAT.NOW, written and performed by Michael Warner and directed by Campbell Scott. The play is described as "Stories of redeption, hope, killing gophers and how bubble gum pop can save your life."
The series will continue with Tony Glazer's THE SUBSTANCE OF BLISS, the story of a couple waiting for their son to return home (July 9); Michele Lowe's GOOD ON PAPER, the story of a boy returning to his childhood daycare center to do community service (July 16); Chris Eigeman's screenplay MIDNIGHT SUN (presented in association with the Williamstown Film Festival), the story of two doctoral candidates working on the atomic bomb in 1943 (July 23); Molly Smith Meltzer's ELEMENO PEA, set in a luxurious world on Martha's Vineyard and directed by Amanda Charlton (July 30); and Kyle Jarrow's KNOCK DOWN DRAG OUT, the story of an unemployed accountant, his wife, and their attempts to get a screenplay he has wrriten produced in Hollywood, directed by John Rando (August 6).
