The Weston Friendly Society presents "Once Upon a Mattress"
Based upon the timeless fairy tale of the Princess and the Pea, "Once Upon a Mattress" tells the story of Prince Dauntless, the heir to his kingdom, who is still looking for a wife that his mother, the Queen,
will approve. This hilarious comedy, good for all ages, follows the Prince and his many potential wives through the Queen's tests to determine if the candidates are "true princesses of the royal blood." When Princess Winnifred the Wobegone comes on the scene, the Prince is sure he has found his match. The Queen is not convinced and proceeds to put her through the most ridiculous of tests. Come and see if Princess Winnifred passes the test and enjoy many comical musical numbers including "Happily Ever After", "Man to Man Talk" and "In a Little While".
The Weston Friendly Society (WFS) is the second oldest Community Theatre in the country and is in its 124th season. WFS donates part of the proceeds from productions to local charitable causes. This
season's beneficiaries are Weston Cub Scout Pack 222 (special needs boys in Weston and surrounding towns), Children's Charter Training Clinic, the Condakes and the John Barclay Memorial Scholarship Funds to Weston Drama Workshop, and the WFS drama award at the Weston High School for a graduating Senior.
