Williamstown Theatre Festival hosts the opening night for the final Main Stage production of the 2016 Season Saturday, August 6th at 8:00pm with Wendy Wasserstein's An American Daughter (August 3 -August 21).

When the President of the United States nominates Dr. Lyssa Dent Hughes (Diane Davis) to the position of Surgeon General, the excavation of her past triggers a scandal that threatens her confirmation. As partisan politics play out, Lyssa's deep personal relationships and impressive career trajectory hang in the balance. Evan Cabnet directs Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winner Wendy Wasserstein's prescient 1997 play about the cost one woman pays when she dares to have it all.

The cast also includes Kerry Bishé (Argo), Jason Danieley (Chicago), Diane Davis (Golden Boy), Saidah Arrika Ekulona (Well), Roe Hartrampf (Nobody Loves You), Stephen Kunken (Enron), Richard Poe (Journey's End), Will Pullen (Goat), and Deborah Rush (Noises Off).

An American Daughter began previews last night, August 3rd, and is scheduled through Sunday, August 21th. There will be a special Lawn Talk before the show on August 7th, and a post-show talkback will take place after the August 9th performance.
