Vocalist Catherine Russell will be making a handful of New England appearances, including a CD release party at Scullers Jazz Club in Brighton, MA on March 11th at 8:00 p.m.
Russell, who recently appeared on the opening night of the 2007 New York Cabaret Convention, is promoting her new album 'Sentimental Streak', which is released on the World Village USA label.
Her father, the late Luis Russell, was Louis Armstrong's musical director and her mother, bassist Carline Ray, backed R&B legend and TONY-winner, Ruth Brown.
After a successful career as a back-up singer for artists, including
Paul Simon,
David Bowie and
Cyndi Lauper, Russell released her debut album 'Cat' in 2006.
In addition to the CD release party at Scullers on the 11th, Russell will also be performing at Real Art Ways in Hartford, CT on March 20th and at Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, MA on March 22.
