Adele Myers' The Dancing Room is an intimate visual wonderland of illumination, laughter and elegance. The work features collaborator and interactive media artist, John Slepian, ongoing collaborator and composer, Josh Quillen (of S? Percussion), visual and lighting director Kathy Couch, and costume designer Heidi Henderson. The Dancing Room is performed in the round by four female athletes of the heart for no more than 30 audience members.

"What pumps in my heart is a raw physicality and athleticism, a dry wit, honesty, and a longing for a sincere connection between performers and the audience. I prefer people dancing to dancers moving. I am a curator of chemistry between people. I work with women who are athletes of the heart." - Adele Myers

Adele Myers and Dancers (AMD) features the physical, mental and emotional prowess of female dancers as dynamic and passionate athletes of the heart. A curator of chemistry between people, Adele Myers approach to dance making is collaborative and often infused with visual art. Riddled with wit and an accessible honesty, AMD have performed throughout the U.S. including over 50 venues in New England. In 2015, AMD was awarded a National Performance Network (NPN) Creation Fund grant for the development and touring of its evening length-work, "The Dancing Room". The company was also awarded a National Dance Project grant in 2012 for the creation and tour of "Einstein's Happiest Thought" which premiered at onStage at Connecticut College and kicked off the Company's 2013-14 season taking them to the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA), Boston; Coker College, South Carolina; International Festival of Arts & Ideas, New Haven, Conn., The American Dance Festival, North Carolina and The Redfern Arts Center, New Hampshire and, Hillsborough Community College, Florida.

AMD has received generous support from the National Performance Network, National Dance Project , Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography (MANCC), Vermont Performance Lab (VPL), Bates Dance Festival, Summer Stages Dance Festival, American Dance Festival (ADF), New England Foundation of the Arts (NEFA); the City of New Haven, the State of Connecticut, and the LEF Foundation.

"The Dancing Room" is a National Performance Network (NPN) Creation Fund Project co-commissioned by Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in partnership with the Quick Center for the Arts and The Yard and NPN. The Creation fund is supported by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, Ford Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts (a federal agency). For more information: www.npnweb.org. Mellon Foundation. The project is also made possible with support from the State of Connecticut's Department of Economic and Community Development.

Adele Myers' formative life as a mover began with ballet, track and field events, balancing on top of big red oil drums while rolling down steep hills, and other fearless feats of childhood dare deviltry, all of which shaped her vision as a moving artist. In 1992, Adele moved to New York City to dance with Joy Kellman/Co. for six years and performed as a guest artist with various companies including Momix. Thereafter, she earned an MFA in Dance from Florida State University (FSU) where she launched Adele Myers and Dancers.

From 2000-2002, Myers was an Assistant Professor of Dance at Tulane University and in 2005 she earned an MA and PhD (ABD) in Performance Studies from New York University (NYU).
