The Russian Grand Ballet Brings SWAN LAKE to Boston's Strand Theatre

The Russian Grand Ballet is pleased to announce the performance of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake" in Dorchester, on Saturday, Sept. 19 at The Strand Theatre. Doors for the performance will open at 6.30 p.m., with the show beginning at 7.30 p.m. The Russian Grand Ballet brings the classic ballet to life with Russia's brightest ballet stars to perform the full-length production. The Russian Grand Ballet has established a reputation for talent and versatility by touring the world with both full-length traditional ballets and shorter 'divertissements.' Its artistic director, Constantine Pinchuk, is highly dedicated to the timeless tradition of classical Russian Ballet. The Honored artist of Ukraine Olga Kifyak with be dancing Odile/Odette, with Eugeniy Svetlitsa as Prince Siegfried and Ivan Kozlov (who has been performing continuously alongside with Ulyana Lopatkina) as Prince's Friend. Alisa Voronova, Sergey Kononenko and Anna Surmina will be performing Swan Lake Pas de Trois for the 22-city American tour.

Swan Lake, based on Russian folklore and German legend, follows a heroic young prince as he works to free the beautiful swan maiden from an evil spell. The ballet is in three acts with two intermissions, with music by Tchaikovsky, choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, and libretto by Vladimir Begichev and Vasily Getzer. Running time is approximately two hours and 30 minutes.

OLGA KIFYAK was born to dance and in a short time has become principal ballerina par excellence. From the dramatic, to the lyrical to the tricks of a master, Kifyak has it all - public accolades and professional awards. In six short years Kifyak garnered 11 international dance awards: Bronze Medalist at Serge Lifar Iinternational Ballet Competition (IBC) in 2002 and in 2004 2 medals at the 5th IBC in Vienna, Austria; July 2004 she won an award at Third IBC in Rome, Italy and in April 2 years later, she won Silver at 6th Serge Lifar International Ballet Competition. In September of 2006 at the First International Yuri Grigorovich Ballet Competition "Young Ballet of Peace" she received a top award. In 2012, after just over ten years of profession dancing, Olga was also bestowed with the title of Honored Artist of Ukraine. Olga's repertoire includes all the ballet classics: Swan Lake as Odette, Odile; Coppelia as Coppelia; Don Quixote as Kitri;Paquita as Paquita; La Bayadere as Gamzatti; Spartacus as Aegina; Raymonda; Giselle; Sleeping Beauty; Le Corsair; The Master and Margarita; Danielle; The Viennese Waltz and Lord Borisphen.
In 2004 she toured with former Bolshoi Prima Ballerina Anastasia Volochkova and prior to this she toured with International Festival of Ballet Stars of Ukraine, an international Festival of Vaslav Nijinsky, the Horegrafichesky Lotus Festival, the International Festival of the 21st century, and the International Festival of Young Talents in Prague, Czech Republic.
Her dance career started in 1998 when she studied at the Ukrainian Academy of Dance in Kiev and graduated with honors from the International Slavic University. She was invited to join the prestigious Ukrainian National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in 2001 immediately upon graduation from the Ukrainian Academy of Dance in Kiev.
From leading roles in dramatic Swan Lake, to lyrical Giselle, to exotic Gamzati in La Bayadere, Kifyak out performs and out shines her contemporaries. The Honored Artist of Ukraine, Kifyak is partnered by Sergey Kononenko, graduate of the St.Petersburg Vaganova Ballet Academy.
IVAN KOZLOV
A native of Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, Ivan Kozlov is anastounding male dancer of superb technical ability,who danced continuouslely alongside the Kirov principal Ulyana Lopatkina.
In 2000 Ivan graduated from the Kiev State School of Dance (class of Vladimir Denisenko) and was engaged the same year as a soloist with the St Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theatre directed by Boris Eifman.
Ivan is a prize-winner and laureate of the X International Ballet Soloists' Competition in Moscow (2005), the VIII Ballet Stars International Festival in Jurmala (Boris Eifman's Tsarevich Pavel), the Golden Mask festival (Karenin in Boris Eifman's Anna Karenina), as well as a diplomante at the VI International Serge Lifar Competition in Kiev (2006).
From 2002 to 2004 Ivan Kozlov was a guest soloist with International Ballet Theatre (USA). He then joined the National Opera of Ukraine Ballet as a soloist. Shortly after that he returned to Boris Eifman's St Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theatre.
In 2007 Ivan was invited to join the Mariinsky Ballet Company, making his debut as Siegfried in Swan Lake.
Starting 2012, Ivan Kozlov is a principal at the Russian Grand Ballet theatre.
ALISA VORONOVA, will be performing Swan Lake Pas de Trois along with Sergey Kononenko and Anna Surmina. Alisa is a famous Kiev State School of Choreography graduate (class of Tatyana Tayakina) was born in Kyiv, Ukraine. She has received a diploma from the International Ballet Competition "Youth in the Ballet" in Kiev 3 years prior to graduating from ballet school and was participant of the International Ballet Festival "World Ballet Stars" in the Grand Pas contest in Donetsk, Ukraine. Shortly after graduation from Kiev State School of Choreography, she was invited to become soloist of Ukraine's historic Donetsk Opera and Ballet Theatre and has also performed for Kiev Municipal Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre for Children and Youth, quickly being promoted to the rank of soloist.
Starting from 2014, Alisa Voronova is a soloist of Russian Grand Ballet Theatre. Voronova's repertoire includes principal roles in the greatest classical ballets including Masha in The Nutcracker; Princess Florine in The Sleeping Beauty; Juliet in Romeo and Juliet; Cinderella in Cinderella; Snow White in Snow White and Seven Dwarfs and more. In addition to full-length classical ballets she enjoys performing contemporary choreography.
Alisa performs internationally in Greece, Germany, UK, Spain, Japan, US, Canada, France, Italy, Romania and other.
