Directions
With beautiful music and haunting melodies, The Secret Garden brings forth forgiveness, love, and renewal through the healing power of nature.

Nominated for the 1991 Tony Awards for Best Musical and Best Score and originally starring Mandy Patinkin, The Secret Garden is based on the beloved children's book by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Orphaned in India, 11 year old Mary Lennox returns to Yorkshire to live with her embittered, reclusive Uncle Archibald and his invalid son Colin on his estate. Hidden within the grounds is a neglected garden, which beckons Mary with its haunting melodies and spirits from the family's past. As Mary and the children work with the earth to bring the garden back to life, its beauty and bounty are restored and the healing power of nature brings forth forgiveness, love, and renewal.

The Secret Garden is directed by Kaitlyn Chantry, whose prior Longwood shows include the award winning She Loves Me, The Importance of Being Earnest, and You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown and this season's opening production of As You Like It. The show is music directed by Jason Luciana and assistant music directed by Karin Denison. The Secret Garden stars Lucy Gladstone and Allsun O'Malley as Mary Lennox (alternate evenings) and Matthew
Zahnzinger as Archibald Craven.

The cast features an ensemble including Lewis Blair (Ben Weatherstaff), Madeleine Carbonneau (Child), Michael Chateauneuf (Lieutenant Wright), Kevin Cirone (Dr. Neville Craven), Jocelyn Hesse (Mrs. Medlock), Susan Johnston (Betsy/Jane), Heather Karwowski (Claire Holmes/Mrs. Shelley), Sam Lathrop (Lieutenant Shaw), Taylor Lawton (Fakir), Shonna McEachern (Martha Sowerby), Aaron Moronez (Major Holmes/Major Shelley), Joseph Nedder (Colin Craven), James Neufeld (Albert Lennox), Stephen Piergrossi, Jr. (Dickon Sowerby), Pavithra Rajagopalan (Ayah), Renee Saindon (Lily Craven), Michelle Vachon (Alice/Mrs. Winthrop), and Eliza Xenakis (Rose Lennox).
