Family stories, heated conversations about gentrification, and news of the day on a poorly constructed PowerPoint. Audiences never know what Hari and Ashok Kondabolu - known simply as The Kondabolu Brothers - will discuss in their live show. They'll bring their show to Cambridge with a return trip to ImprovBoston on March 19th as part of a series of live podcasts co-produced by the Earwolf Podcast Network.
The New York Times calls Comedian Hari Kondabolu "one of the most exciting political comics in standup today." In the 2017 documentary film The Problem with Apu, created by and starring Hari himself, the Brooklyn-based comic interviewed celebrities about such negative stereotypes of South Asians as The Simpsons character Apu, the only character of South Asian heritage to appear regularly on American television in 1989.
Hari has performed on the Late Show with David Letterman, Conan, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Live at Gotham, and John Oliver's New York Standup Show. His Comedy Central Presents half-hour television special debuted in February 2011. He wrote for the Chris Rock-produced Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell on FX.
A regular on public radio, he appeared on NPR's Morning Edition, All Things Considered, Studio 360, Bullseye, and Soundcheck. He also appeared on such popular podcasts as WTF with Marc Maron, You Made it Weird with Pete Holmes, and Too Beautiful to Live with Luke Burbank.
The Kondabolu Brothers Podcast runs at 40 Prospect Street in Central Square, Cambridge Monday, March 19th at 7PM.
