The Gamm Theatre in cooperation with the Pawtucket Armory Association presents Door of No Return, written and performed by Nehassaiu deGannes and directed by Kelli Wicke Davis .
In this one-woman show, Nehassaiu deGannes gives voice to Rhode Island experiences of immigration, displacement, enslavement and resistance from a multiplicity of perspectives by playing over a dozen characters drawn from history, personal memory and present day interviews.
Supported in part by Rhode Island Council for the Humanities, Door of No Return is part of the new Freedom Festival commemorating the bicentennial of the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade and African-American heritage. The show is billed as "part docu-drama, part ritual theatre, part mythic-extravaganza"
