On Friday evening, June 1st from 5 to 8pm, The Colonial Theatre lobby will be transformed into a gallery space featuring the works of Warren Barber and Jason Allain.  Both will be in attendance to curate the artwork.

This event is free as a part of Pittsfield’s First Fridays Artswalk.  The Artswalk is a visual arts focused program unifying many of downtown Pittsfield’s venues, providing a stimulating evening for all.

A native of the Berkshires, Warren Barber’s artwork is inspired and fueled by the natural beauty around him. He utilizes recycled materials found in junk yards, the sides of railroad tracks and the many forests throughout the Berkshires.

His handmade lamps are fashioned out of tree roots and birch bark and give off a light that’s likened to sunlight peaking through the trees. The tables he creates look as beautiful and pristine in a home as they do in the woods they were salvaged from. Barber is an artist with many diverse interests and specialties, and just as he makes tables fit for a large feast, his delicate and intricate copper jewelry is equally as intriguing and appealing.

According to Barber, “Mother Nature pushes on and creates and people continue to consume and throw away. I’m just trying to preserve the beauty of the past by putting a little twist on it, and bringing it into your living or work environment.”

More information as well as photographs of Barber’s work can be found at www.rootsandrust.com

Jason Allain, also a native of the Berkshires, creates organically-inspired illustrations out of oil, acrylic, charcoal and ink and creates drawings in the digital medium.

This event will be held at The Colonial Theatre Ticket at 111 South Street Pittsfield, MA 01201. Information on directions and hours can be attained by calling (413) 997-4444 or by going online to www.BerkshireTheatreGroup.org. The Ticket Office is open Monday-Friday 10am–5pm, Saturdays 10am–2pm or on any performance day from 10am until intermission.
