Under the direction of Artistic Director Hal Brooks, the Cape Cod Theatre Project has a history of presenting some of America's most exciting new plays, including: John Cariani's Almost, Maine, Lucas Hnath's Hillary and Clinton and Heidi Schreck's Grand Concourse. After each reading, audiences are invited to participate in talkbacks to assist in the development of the newly-presented works, many of which go on to off-Broadway, Broadway, or regional engagements.

Playwright Talene Monahon returns to Cape Cod to debut her new play How to Load a Musket. Ms. Monahon is also an actress. She is currently featured in the hit off-Broadway show The Government Inspector starring Michael Urie. She also appeared in Rob Askins' Permission and The Wild Party. Ms. Monahon graduated as a senior fellow from Dartmouth College.

How to Load a Musket is directed by Hal Brooks. He serves as the artistic director of the Cape Cod Theatre Project and is the Associate Artistic Director of the Ojai Playwrights Conference. Mr. Brooks was the artistic director of Obie Award wining Pearl Theatre Company in New York. Mr. Brooks directed Nilaja Sun's No Child, and will be directing Heisenberg at American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco next spring.

Ms. Monahon has conducted dozens of interviews across the United States with Revolutionary and Civil War re-enactors. The play seeks to uncover the hidden world of the thousands of men and women who gather to recreate some of the epic battles of American history. These men and women fire muskets, chew hard-tack, wear handmade period clothing, and brave the elements. Using their actual words, How to Load a Musket explores the patriotism, love of history, and the opportunity for escapism that fuels the lifestyles of re-enactors.

All presentations of How to Load a Musket will take place at 8:00 P.M. in the newly renovaTEd Simon Arts Center at Falmouth Academy in Falmouth, Massachusetts. Tickets are available for (a suggested donation) of $25 each or a season subscription of of $75 for the remaining three readings in the CCTP season and can be purchased by calling the box office at (508) 457-4242.
