The Alexander Children's Theatre School (ACTS), in residence at the Umbrella Community Arts Center (40 Stow Street, Concord, MA), is pleased to announce that tickets are now on sale for their upcoming production of SHREK: THE MUSICAL, running Friday, June 2 at 7:30 pm, Saturday, June 3 at 2:00 and 7:30 pm, and Sunday, June 4 at 4:00 pm.

Based on the Oscar-winning Dreamworks Animation film, SHREK: THE MUSICAL is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure, featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie; Caroline, or Change) and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage and proves there's more to the story than meets the ears.

"Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek...." And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand... and his name is Shrek.

SHREK: THE MUSICAL is directed by Ryan MacPherson with choreography by Jackie Theoharis and music direction by Ben Tan. Stephanie C. Mavrides is the Executive Producer and ACTS founder.

PERFORMANCES are Friday, June 2 at 7:30 pm, Saturday, June 3 at 2:00 and 7:30 pm, and Sunday, June 4 at 4:00 pm at the Umbrella Community Arts Center (40 Stow Street, Concord, MA). TICKETS range from $15 to $20 and are available online at www.ACTS1.org or by calling the ACTS Box Office (781-899-4467). Group rates are available for parties of 10+.

Since 1999, The Alexander Children's Theatre School (ACTS) has been producing several annual musicals, in addition to offering master classes and workshops with professional artists, weekly dance classes, and other educational opportunities. By combining the work of professional adults with that of students and volunteers, we can create an excellent learning experience for all. We believe that every young person can succeed in the theater if given the proper guidance, encouragement, and direction. ACTS is a proud member of the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theatres (EMACT). Find us on Facebook and Twitter or visit our website (www.ACTS1.org).
