They say it takes a village to raise a child. It takes a caring community to raise a child with autism. Autism is the fastest growing disability in the United States. Many people hear negative stories about those on the spectrum on a daily basis.

Many people with autism internalize these negative stories. The Art of Autism show aspires to change this by educating people in the general community about autism. The Art of Autism show will be featured for two days - November 4 and 5 - at the Good Purpose Gallery in Lee, MA with artists on-site from 5 PM to 9 PM each evening. The show coincides with the gallery's "Vision on the Spectrum" show featuring the work of professional Autistic Savant artist, Esther Brokaw and the art work of the students from the College Internship Program's (CIP) student population - young adults with Asperger's and Learning Differences - ages 18 to 26. A uplifting film series about many talented individuals "on the spectrum" and their stories will show simultaneously at the Spectrum Playhouse (40 Franklin St., Lee, MA) Saturday, Nov. 5th from 5 to 9 PM. Savant artist, Esther Brokaw will give a very special presentation and lecture at The Playhouse during this time frame and be on hand to talk about her art and her art process.

Author Debbie Hosseini and several artists featured in the book including Esther Brokaw and Dr. Michael McManmon (CIP's Founder) will be on hand in the gallery both evening to sign copies of the book ARTISM: The Art of Autism.

All proceeds from the weekend benefit the Art of Autism and the Student Educational Development Fund (SEDF) - who runs the Good Purpose Gallery. All purchases of books and art during the weekend qualify for a 50% charitable tax donation.

The Art of Autism is coming off a nation-wide tour that has included LA (Hollywood), Vancouver, Canada, Ventura, CA, Soho (last week) and last stop : Lee, MA in the beautiful The Berkshires!
