Stoneham Theatre's Season 14 is off to a sexy start with a show direct from Broadway, Seminar.

"This is the first time in the history of Stoneham Theatre we've done a show that was just on Broadway," Producing Artistic Director Weylin Symes shared. "Seminar wrapped up its Broadway run in May 2012, and we are one of the very first regional theatres in the country to bring it to our stage."

Written by Theresa Rebeck, creator of the TV show Smash, Seminar is a contemporary comedy which tells the story of four young writers who hire a world-famous novelist to teach a seminar. When tempers, egos and libidos flare, these students end up getting the schooling of their lives. "Theresa Rebeck is one of the main reasons we are doing this show. She's a wonderfully talented and very funny writer," Symes added. "I couldn't pass up the opportunity to produce her newest play."

Seminar marks the Stoneham Theatre debut for four actors: Jordan Ahnquist (Title of Show, SpeakEasy Stage Company) plays Martin, Jesse Hinson (Twelfth Night, Actors' Shakespeare Project) portrays Douglas, Sophorl Ngin (Arabian Nights, Central Square Theatre) plays Izzy, and Christopher Tarjan (Our Town, Huntington Theatre Company) takes on the role of Leonard, played by Alan Rickman on Broadway. Liz Hayes, who was seen in Stoneham's Strangers on a Train, will portray Kate.

Seminar could be seen as a bit of a departure for Stoneham Theatre as the show is "recommended for adults" due to brief nudity and language, but Symes doesn't see it that way. "Since we pride ourselves on the variety of programming here at Stoneham Theatre, in that sense, this really isn't a departure at all. It's just something new, different, and exciting for us to share with our audiences."

Seminar makes its New England debut at Stoneham Theatre on Thursday, September 12, 2013 and runs through Sunday, September 29, 2013. Performances are Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays at 8:00pm, Saturdays at 3:00pm and 8:00pm, and Sundays at 2:00pm. Tickets are $45 - $50.
