From January 9 through February 7, 2015, SpeakEasy Stage Company will proudly present the World Premiere of A FUTURE PERFECT, a timely new comedy about friendship, babies, and defining success, written by Ken Urban.

At the center of A FUTURE PERFECT are Max and Claire, a young married couple who find their values put to the test when best friends Alex and Elena announce they are expecting their first child. Claire is climbing the corporate ladder in advertising, while her husband Max is a puppeteer for PBS. With friends entering into parenthood, they ask: What happened to the indie rock kids who hated everything their parents believed in?

A FUTURE PERFECT is the latest work by former Huntington Playwriting Fellow Ken Urban, whose previous plays include The Awake and The Correspondent. Ken's plays have produced and developed at Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre; Summer Play Festival at The Public; Donmar Warehouse (London); TimeLine Theatre Company; Epic Theatre Ensemble; Studio 42; Theatre @ Boston Court; Williamstown Theatre Festival; Playwrights Horizons; Irish Rep; Primary Stages; kef productions; Stable Cable; and the Huntington. Awards include the Weissberger Playwriting Award, Huntington Theatre Playwriting Fellowship, Djerassi Artist Residency, Dramatist Guild Fellowship, and MacDowell Colony Fellowships. Ken is also a screenwriter (The Happy Sad), and plays in the band Occurrence.

M. Bevin O'Gara, whose previous SpeakEasy credits include Tribes and Clybourne Park, will direct. In addition to her many local credits, Ms. O'Gara also helped develop A FUTURE PERFECT during the Huntington's 2013 Summer Playwriting Workshop.

The cast features Norton Award-winners Marianna Bassham and Nael Nacer, plus Chelsea Diehl, Brian Hastert, and Uatchet Jin Juch.

The design team is Cristina Todesco (scenic), Elisabetta Polito (costumes), Jen Rock (lighting), Nathan Leigh (sound), and Christine Goldman (props).

A FUTURE PERFECT will run for five weeks, from January 9 through February 7, in the Roberts Studio Theatre in the Stanford Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts, 527 Tremont Street in Boston's South End.

Ticket prices start at $25, with discounts for students, seniors, and persons age 25 and under. For tickets or more information, the public is invited to call 617.933.8600 or visit www.SpeakEasyStage.com.
