The Berkshire Playwrights Lab will present a reading of Chris Newbound's The Birthday Boy on Aug. 26 at 8pm. The theatrical event will take place at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center.
The reading will be directed by Bob Jaffe, and will feature Geneva Carr and Charles Socarides. Additional casting will be announced shortly.
THE BIRTHDAY BOY is about what happens when there's a sudden connection between two people that, if pursued, could interfere with a life that has been going along just fine; about the paths we choose to take and those we choose not to; the commitments we do honor, the worthwhile sacrifices we must make. In short, a celebration of the messy, imperfect, life that being a husband, a wife, a father, a mother, all entails in order to evolve into the grownups we're meant to be.
The reading is free, however tickets are required. To arrange for tickets, call (413) 528-0100 or visit the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center box office (14 Castle Street, Great Barrington, MA).
The Berkshire Playwrights Lab, a theater company in the Berkshires, is entering its second season of presenting staged readings of new plays, by emerging and established playwrights, at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
The Berkshire Playwrights Lab is the artistic collaboration of founders Joe Cacaci, Jim Frangione, Bob Jaffe, and Matthew Penn, all established theater professionals.
Audiences will see and hear exciting new plays performed and staged, script in hand, by a talented cast of New York professionals. The actors, author, and director will rehearse in the beautiful Berkshires for three days, culminating in a full exploration of the text that will bring the writer's words to life onstage.
