Shakespeare & Company has announced Lovers' Spat - Shakespeare's Famous Couple's Encounters on Saturday, February 18 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, February 19 at 2:00 pm.
Company actors and guest performers explore the complexities of love in staged readings featuring Shakespeare's most notorious couples' loving, fighting, scheming and wooing. Lover's Spat is directed by Artistic Director Allyn Burrows and performed in the Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre.
"The best part of quarreling is making up," said Allyn Burrows. "On this Valentine's weekend we do the quarreling and you do the making up, or making out, or making your sweetheart laugh."
Scenes will include lovers Beatrice and Benedict, Oberon and Titania, Romeo and Juliet, Hermia and Lysander, Kate and Hotspur, Kate and Petruchio, Richard and Lady Anne, and more. Comedian Kevin Bartini is our MC, and the cast features Elizabeth Aspenlieder, Jason Asprey, Allyn Burrows, MaConnia Chesser, Tamara Hickey, David Joseph, and more.
Tickets are $25 general admission. $10 student tickets are also available for both performances. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased online at www.shakespeare.org or by calling the Shakespeare & Company box office at (413) 637-3353. The Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre is wheelchair accessible.
