FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, one of Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston's top-five-selling shows of all time, is back by popular demand July 11-21 starring Boston television personality and IRNE Award winner Scott Wahle as Tevye. Reprising the role that earned him critical acclaim 10 years ago, Wahle leads a cast of 45 in this timeless musical based on Sholem Aleichem's beloved stories.Donna Sorbello, the IRNE Award-winning actress who starred as Mrs. Higgins in last season's My Fair Lady at Reagle Music Theatre, returns as Tevye's wife, Golde.
With a book by Joseph Stein and a score by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF has touched audiences around the world with its humor, warmth, honesty and rich historical and ethnic detail. Set in the Little Village of Anatevka, the story follows Tevye, a poor dairyman, as he tries to instill in his five daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. The evergreen score includes favorites "Tradition," "Matchmaker, Matchmaker," "If I Were a Rich Man," "Sunrise, Sunset," and "To Life." The original Broadway production, which opened in 1964 and ran for nearly eight years, won nine Tony Awards including Best Musical.
Olivier Award nominee, IRNE Award winner and Broadway star Kirby Ward directs FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. IRNE nominee Susan M. Chebookjian choreographs, recreating Jerome Robbins' iconic dance numbers. IRNE Award winner Dan Rodriguez provides music direction, and Jeffrey Leonard conducts. Costumes are by Kansas City Costumes. Sets, designed by Steve Gilliam, are from the most recent National Tour.
Scott Wahle (Tevye) is 30-year veteran of television news and sports, most recently serving as morning news anchor for WBZ-TV in Boston from 1998-2008. A Hingham native and graduate of Notre Dame University with a major in English and minor in theater arts, Wahle has established a second career performing regularly on Boston area stages. He recently portrayed George A. Dodge in the world premiere musical Paragon Park, and he has starred at Reagle Music Theatre in The Music Man (IRNE Award), 1776 (IRNE Award nomination), The Will Rogers Follies, Into the Woods, Say It with Music, and Fiddler on the Roof. Other regional starring roles include the Beast in Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Wonka in Willy Wonka, The King in The King and I, Curly in Oklahoma!, Sancho in Man of La Mancha, Michael in I Do! I Do! and Smudge in Forever Plaid. Wahle's motion picture credits include the Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz filmKnight and Day and HallMark Hall of Fame's The Makeover. In addition to frequent concert appearances, he was a featured guest on "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," he's performed twice with Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops, and he has sung the National Anthem for the Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics and Patriots.
Donna Sorbello* (Golde) returns to Reagle Music Theatre after earning critical acclaim for her portrayal of Mrs. Higgins in last season's My Fair Lady. An IRNE Award-winning actress and veteran of Off-Broadway and National Tours, Sorbello has performed regionally with Huntington Theatre Company, Commonwealth Shakespeare, Shear Madness, Lyric Stage, New Repertory Theatre, North Shore Music Theatre, Nora Theatre Company, and Wheelock Family Theatre. Favorite roles include The Woman in Unexpected Man (Gloucester Stage), Ana in Clean House (New Century), Amanda in The Glass Menagerie (Palace), Lady in Orpheus Descending (IRNE Award), and Serafina inThe Rose Tattoo (TAW, CT). Elsewhere Sorbello has appeared as Amanda in Private Lives (Sharon Playhouse), Mad Agnes in The Drunkard(13th Street, NY), Evie in the national tour of Stop the World, I Want to Get Off, and Pat Nixon in Fight Song (Frankel Theatre). Television and film credits include The Makeover, Invention of Lying, The Brotherhood, Tax Day, See Kate Run, Mulberry Tree, and Haichiko. Sorbello is also an instructor of Acting and Playwriting.

Performances of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF are 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 11 and Saturdays and Sundays, July 13-14 and 20-21; and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 12, Thursday, July 18, and Saturday, July 20. Single tickets for adults are $57 (premium), $49, $42 and $35. Seniors 60 or older receive $3 off adult prices. Tickets for youths 5-18 are $25, any section.
