Science Fiction Theatre Company presents the world premiere of The Singularity by Crystal Jackson.
Astrid is on her last egg- if she does not get pregnant now, she'll never have a child. The Singularity is a black comedy set in a dystopian future about a woman who will try anything to have a baby. When sperm banks and hookups fail her, Astrid's desperation hits an all-time low. She tries one last thing: dark matter. All Astrid wanted was to be a mother, but now she must ask "a mother to what?"
The Singularity is the opening show of Science Fiction Theatre Company's fourth season, and the second to last show in The Factory Theatre. Founded in 2011, Science Fiction Theatre Company is New England's only company dedicated to science fiction and a forerunner in the growing international conversation about science fiction and theatre. Plays produced by Science Fiction Theatre Company have gone on to be produced across the country including at the first annual Sci-Fest L.A. Science Fiction Theatre Company makes diversity its mission. Half or more of each season is written by female playwrights, and the company actively promotes the voices of people of color and women in science fiction, both on and off stage.
The Singularity stars Kathy-Ann Hart, and features Matthew Zahnzinger, David D'Andrea, Nick Bennett-Zendzian, Robin Gabrielli, Stewart Evan Smith, and Ervin Melara. It is directed by Cait Robinson.
