"It is always an honor to be recognized by the Helen Hayes Awards judges, especially when you consider that there are 3500 professional theatre artists and over 65 theatre companies in the region that meet eligibility requirements," said Michael Stebbins. "That the Helen Hayes Awards are giving this year's Helen Hayes Tribute to the artistic directors of the individual theatres is not only a gracious gesture but also recognition of those of us who share with each other the immense pride we all take in our extraordinary theatre community."
About The Helen Hayes Awards
The Helen Hayes Awards is among the area's chief community builders, helping to strengthen the D.C. region by building one of its most powerful assets: the professional theatre. While the organization takes center stage on one night each year to celebrate Washington area theatre, its work behind the scenes to build audiences, honor excellence, and educate youth continues for 365 nights - and days.
