"The beauty of this play is that we take the mythological story of Robin Hood and completely turn it around, dispelling any illusions to damsels in distress or the archetypal male hero in exchange for a more modern understanding of gender identity," says Regis Fine Arts Center Director, Jennifer Potts. "Amidst the swordplay and comic mischief, we get to the real heart of the matter, that love is love regardless of outward appearances. It's an amazingly insightful play and one that we're excited to share with the entire Regis community."
This fast-paced, hilarious new take on the classic tale of Robin Hood is part Shakespeare, part Monty Python and a whole lot of fun! Robin is and always has been Maid Marian in disguise, leading a motley group of Merry (Wo)men on a comic adventure through Sherwood Forest and up the ramparts of Nottingham Castle. This uproarious new comedy defies gender stereotypes and smashes the patriarchal establishment in the name of true love!
