The Heat Is On, a theatrical concert based on the life of Rita Hayworth is coming to Ridgefield Playhouse, Friday, May 11, at 8PM. This follows the show's smash, sold-out show this past July, as well as 35 sold-out concerts in Greece and two shows at BB King's in New York City. The Heat is On looks at the tumultuous life and career of one of the most memorable stars to ever grace a movie screen, and stars Quinn Lemley as Rita Hayworth.
According to press notes, the show, "explores Miss Hayworth's infamous marriages to
Orson Welles and Prince Aly Khan, her turbulent relationship with Columbia Pictures movie mogul Harry Cohn, her ascent into Hollywood stardom in the '40's, her relationships with Fred Astaire,
Frank Sinatra and Dick Haymes, and her final struggle with Alzheimer's. Miss Lemley takes you by the hand with Hayworth, as she invites you into the crevasses of her heart to share the flip side of her life through monologue and Hayworth's music ("Long Ago and Far Away," "Put The Blame On Mame," "I'm Old Fashioned," "Zip," "The Lady is a Tramp" & "Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered"), backed by an electrifying 11-piece Big Band, dance and five costume changes."
