Continuing a tradition that was started in 1991 when Richard Jenkins (Nathaniel Fisher Sr. on Six Feet Under) was Artistic Director of the Company; Trinity Rep is offering tickets to the January 27, 2006 preview performance of William Shakespeare's Hamlet for a Pay What You Can (PWYC) Price.

Tickets will be on sale at the box office starting at 7:00 p.m. and are limited one-per-person. People can pay as little as one penny, if that is what they can pay.

The Rhode Island Lottery is sponsoring PWYC Night, and has been a sponsor of this special evening since 2004.

Last season (2004-2005) 566 tickets were sold at an average PWYC price of $7.27.   The production of A Christmas Carol sold for an average price of $1.93.

It is thought that the fastest sell-out of a PWYC performance happened in 1999 when My Fair Lady sold out in five minutes.

Hamlet begins previews on January 27, 2006 and opens on February 1, 2006
