The Westport Country Playhouse proudly presents Sedition by David Wiltse, now playing through August 18; directed by Tazewell Thompson.

Sedition stars Chris Sarandon (The Light in the Piazza) with Jeffrey DeMunn (Stuff Happens, K2), Colin McPhillamy, Hannah Cabell and Mark Shanahan.

"In this true story, Schrag, a prominent professor of German at a Midwestern university, is forced to stand up in defense of his freedom of speech – and pays the price for his courage," states press notes, "Conflicted, he watched his fellow countrymen become deeply divided, saw citizens herded into camps and treated like the enemy because of their surnames and witnessed the inability and unwillingness of some to voice their opinions. Wiltse's stunning new play questions with razor sharp dialogue – and not without a sense of humor – what it means to stand up for something that you believe in."

The Westport County Playhouse is located at 25 Powers Court, Westport, CT 06880.  For tickets and information, call the box office at 203-227-4177 or toll-free at 888-927-7529, or visit the box office or www.westportplayhouse.org.
