Godspell, one of the biggest off-Broadway and Broadway successes of all time, comes to STEPS in a dazzling new production, directed by acclaimed theatre director, Michael La Fleur (Celine Dion, Disney, Universal). Godspell is a joyous retelling of the Gospel According to St. Matthew, performed by a rag-a-muffin troupe of 10 remarkably talented performers. Featuring a sparkling score by Stephen Schwartz, the composer of Wicked and Pippin, Godspell boasts a string of recognizable songs, led by the international hit, "Day By Day."
Based on passages found in The Gospel According to St. Matthew, the timeless parables come to life in a vibrantly hilarious production with toe-tapping song and dance, and a deeply moving story. Godspell is one of the most ubiquitous shows in theater history, and has been playing to sellout crowds around the world. In STEPS' new production, director La Fleur gives us a fresh staging with contemporary references and some very clever updating. La Fleur has staged Godspell numerous times around the country, and each production has been a huge success. The cast includes local favorites, Nicolas Landmesser (Milford, Ma), Christopher O' Reilly (Hopkinton, Ma), Meg Lowey (Foxboro, Ma), Aubrie Bagdasarian (Bellingham, Ma), Stephanie Crugnola (Franklin, Ma), Alexandra Dutremble (Bellingham, Ma), Maria Norris (North Attleboro, Ma), Ron Vorce (Marlboro, Ma), Corey Cadigan (West Bridgewater, Ma) and Brendan Duquette (North Attleboro, Ma) as Jesus.
