Guerilla Opera presents Let's Make a Sandwich, an experiment in opera production, which includes two world premiere operas with music and librettos by composers Rudolf Rojahn and Curtis K. Hughes, and stage direction by Copeland Woodruff and Giselle Ty. Through performance, this production investigates the culture of contemporary opera production and highlights where the influence of the composer ends and the director begins. Let's Make a Sandwich plays for one weekend only: Thursday through Saturday, September 25, 26 and 27, 2014, at 8 p.m. with an audience talk-back on Friday, September 26; all performances are in The Zack Box Theater at The Boston Conservatory, located at 8 The Fenway in Boston, MA. Tickets can be purchased beginning Wednesday, September 10, 2014, and are $15 general admission, $10 senior citizens and free for students with a valid ID (for at-the-door purchases only). Please call The Boston Conservatory Box Office at (617) 912-9222 or visit www.bostonconservatory.edu/tickets for more information. Let's Make a Sandwich is sung in English and is 90 minutes in duration.

Let's Make a Sandwich is comprised of two short chamber operas; RareBit with music and libretto by Curtis K. Hughes, and Ouroboros with music and libretto by Rudolf Rojahn. Both librettos are freely adapted from the same source material, a 1950 short informational film of the same title. Both operas will be directed separately by two directors, Copeland Woodruff and Giselle Ty, with a brief intermission between each pair. The goal of this production is to open a window into the process of creating opera, highlighting how each composer and each director approaches the same material, as well as where the composer's work ends and the director's work begins.

Both operas in this production feature the same cast of Guerilla Opera's most seasoned performers: Aliana de la Guardia (general manager and co-founding member), baritone Brian Church (Say It Ain't So Joe, Heart of a Dog, Bovinus Rex, and Giver of Light), tenor Patrick Massey (Heart of a Dog and Bovinus Rex), clarinetist Amy Advocat (Gallo, Giver of Light, and Bovinus Rex), saxophonist Kent O'Doherty (co-founding member) and percussionist Mike Williams (co-artistic director and co-founding member). The Guerilla Opera creative team includes composers Curtis K. Hughes (Say It Ain't So, Joe) and Rudolf Rojahn (Bovinus Rex, Heart of a Dog, and We Are Sons), stage directors Copeland Woodruff (Heart of a Dog and Bovinus Rex) and Giselle Ty (Giver of Light, assistant director), scenic designers Julia Noulin- Me?rat (director of design and production) and Andrea Nice, costume designer Neil Fortin (Bovinus Rex and Giver of Light), lighting designer Tlaloc Lopez-Watermann (Heart of a Dog, Bovinus Rex, Gallo and Giver of Light) and production manager Dana Ciccotello (Gallo).
