Big boned and big hearted Tracy Turnblad doesn't fit with the 'in' crowd of her 1960s Baltimore high school and dreams of being a dancer on the local TV teenage dance program. So, do her African American classmates. Friendship and love grow from breaking through the barriers for both in this heartwarming, story set to a rousing 1960's dance style rhythm and blues score. Winner of eight Tony Awards, Hairspray's message of acceptance and love resonates as much today as ever.
