The Cape Playhouse very proudly presents, Altar Boyz, the award-winning Off-Broadway musical. Starring, Coby Getzug, Austin Colby, David Barnes, Anthony Fortino, and Ben Chavez; and directed by Jason Sparks. Destined to rock the masses of all denominations, Altar Boyz runs July 24-August 4, 2018.

Altar Boyz tells the story of 5 small-town boys - Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan, and Abraham - trying to save the world one screaming fan at a time. Their pop act worked wonders on the Ohio bingo-hall-and-pancake-breakfast circuit. But when fate brings them to New York, will the boyz take a bite out of the big apple?

David Barnes is Mark in his Cape Playhouse debut. National Tour credits include The Book of Mormon (Ensemble, u/s Elder Price, McKinley). Regional credits include South Pacific and Oklahoma! He holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Michigan.

Austin Colby (Matthew) was featured in the national tour of The Sound of Music, directed by Jack O'Brien. His regional credits include West Side Story, Smokey Joe's Café, South Pacific, Forever Plaid and Spring Awakening. He holds a Bachelor of Music from James Madison University.

Ben Chavez is making his Cape Playhouse debut as Juan. He recently appeared Off-Broadway in Marry Harry. Other theatre credits include Evita, Legally Blonde, Grease, and The Visitor. Ben is also an award-winning composer with works including: The Cobalteans (NYMF, Outstanding Music Award), Elysium (Finger Lakes MTF, Ohio Northern University), and WRIGHT, a new piece being developed this summer at the Finger Lakes MTF's PiTCH series.

Anthony Fortino is Luke. His National Tour credits include Fun Home. Favorite Regional credits include Mamma Mia!, Miss Saigon, South Pacific, Into the Woods, Titanic, Catch Me If You Can and, Lord of the Flies.

Coby Getzug is Abraham. Broadway credits include The Book of Mormon, Brighton Beach Memoirs. National Tour credits include The Book of Mormon, Spring Awakening. Regional credits include The Black Suits, The Lieutenant of Inishmore, and Our Town.

Jason Sparks (Hello, Dolly! starring Bette Midler, She Loves Me, After Midnight) directs Altar Boy, joined by music director Jordan Jones-Reese, set designer Ryan Howell, costume designer Ryan Park, and lighting designer Jaron Hermansen. Casting Director for the 2018 season is Geoff Josselson, CSA.

Rodgers & Hammerstein is the organization founded in 1944 by the legendary team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II to protect and license their theatrical works. R&H Theatricals is home to works from Broadway (Sophisticated Ladies, Michael John LaChiusa's The Wild Party, Lin-Manuel Miranda's In The Heights, and First Date), Off-Broadway (Carrie The Musical, Ordinary Days, Altar Boyz, Giant, 21 Chump Street), perennials such as Once Upon A Mattress, Big River and Footloose, a Theater for Young Audiences (TYA) collection which includes Garfield The Musical With Cattitude and Mad Libs Live!, and the longest-running revues in the history of Broadway - Smokey Joe's Cafe - and Off-Broadway - I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. Playing July 24 through August 4, performances are Monday through Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm, Thursday through Saturday evenings at 8:00 pm, with matinees on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 2:00 pm and Saturdays at 4:00 pm.
