Somewhere In Time, after another century of marvelous concerts at the MAHAIWE I'm sure Great Barrington audiences will be pointing out that the extraordinarily gifted Broadway star Sutton Foster sang here. But as they gaze at the historic entertainment photos displayed on the walls of it's lower lobby they will only be able to imagine the heavenly sounds of Sutton Foster's voice. They will not be able to experience how Sutton held an audience spell bound with singing that makes you want to cheer after every selection, except for the fact that you don't want to interrupt the exceptional musical moment.
It was just Sutton and a piano on the MAHAIWE stage, which was the absolute perfect setting to appreciate her glorious voice. The gifted music director/arranger/pianist, Michael Rafter quietly and skillfully was able to creatively accompany every subtlety of her voice. I've rarely heard such a perfect marriage of notes. Those historic photos from the early 1900's can't let you hear the Great Performances of the past. MAHAIWE audiences of the future however, will be able to buy a CD, video or whatever else is used to capture the great sounds that have resonated in the acoustically perfect theatre.
Joining Sutton Foster was her "best friend" and wonderful guest singer, Megan McGinnis.
