Lillias White brought her music director, arranger, and vocal accomplice Billy Stritch to William Finn's Cabaret at Barrington Stage Company last night and BroadwayWorld was there. The title of her show, The Lillias White Effect is entirely fact-based as Ms. White and Mr. Stritch had a bedazzling effect on the Berkshire audience in Mr. Finn's Cabaret.
Lillias White combines theatrical skill, jazz and soul musicality and an infectious personality that turns every performance into a thrilling musical event which in turn becomes a joyful party. She is the perfect host who makes you feel part of her family. The medium sized nameless Grand Piano in Mr. Finn's Cabaret was magically transformed into the concert sized Yamaha at Birdland under the fingers (only 10?) of the brilliant Billy Stritch. His threater/soul style arrangements and vocal harmonies helped create one of the finest cabaret experiences of any season in Pittsfield's premier cabaret.
