A rehearsal for the East Coast Premiere of Nick Blaemire's "A Little More Alive" recently took place in New York City and BroadwayWorld was there. Barrington Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, announced BSC's acclaimed Musical Theatre Lab will present Nick Blaemire's new musical A Little More Alive, from July 17 through August 8 on the St. Germain Stage. The press opening is Wednesday, July 22 at 7:30pm.

Founded in 2006, the BSC Musical Theatre Lab is overseen by Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Artistic Producer William Finn.

A Little More Alive features book, music and lyrics by actor and writer Nick Blaemire (Glory Days) with direction by Tony nominee Sheryl Kaller (Next Fall, Mothers and Sons). Lisa Shriver is choreographer, Vadim Feichtner is music director, with orchestrations by Charlie Rosen.

In this heartfelt and original folk-pop musical, two estranged brothers reunite at their childhood home after their mother's funeral. An unexpected revelation distorts every memory they have as they uncover secrets that had been hiding in plain sight their whole lives. Brothers Nate and Jeremy find that no one is exempt from the grey area between right and wrong.

The cast features Van Hughes (Nate), Michael Tacconi (Jeremy), Tony nominee Daniel Jenkins (Gene), Nicolette Robinson (Lizzie), and Emily Walton (Molly).

The production team includes Kris Stone (Scenic Designer), China Lee (Costume Designer), Tony winner Jeff Croiter (Lighting Design), Lindsay Jones (sound Design), Caite Hevner Kemp (Projection Designer). Mark Dobrow is production stage manager.

Produced in 2014 at Kansas City Repertory Theatre, A Little More Alive was called a "touching, original story by one of America's most exciting young playwrights... imbued with undeniable human warmth," by the Kansas City Star.

A Little More Alive is sponsored by Judith Goldsmith & Carrie and David Schulman and sponsored in part by Drs. Judith and Martin Bloomfield.

Performances of A Little More Alive are Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30pm, Thurs/Sat/Sun at 3pm (excluding 7/18, 7/23). Press Opening: Wednesday, July 22 at 7:30pm. Tickets start at $40. Low priced previews July 17-18 are $15. Youth ages 6-18, tickets $15 all performances (subject to availability). Barrington Stage Company's St. Germain Stage is located at the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center, 36 Linden Street in Pittsfield, MA. Barrington Stage Company, a professional award-winning Equity regional theatre located in the heart of the Berkshires, in Pittsfield, MA, was co-founded in 1995 by Artistic Director Julianne Boyd. Barrington Stage's mission is three-fold: to present top-notch, compelling work; to develop new plays and musicals; and to find fresh, bold ways to bringing new audiences into the theatre-especially young people. Barrington Stage garnered national attention in 2004 when it premiered William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin's musical hit The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which later transferred to Broadway, where it won two Tony Awards. In 2009/2010 Barrington Stage produced the world premiere of Mark St. Germain's Freud's Last Session, which later moved Off-Broadway and played for two years. St. Germain's Becoming Dr. Ruth (which premiered at BSC as Dr. Ruth, All the Way in 2012) played Off-Broadway at the Westside Theatre in fall 2013. BSC's all-time record-breaking musical, On the Town, originally presented in 2013, is currently on Broadway with BSC as a co-producer. Barrington Stage was voted "Best Live Theatre" by The Berkshire Eagle, was named "Best Theatre Company" in Metroland's Best of the Capital Region, and was awarded "Best Summer Theater in New England" by Yankee Magazine.
