Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater presents Painting Churches by Tina Howe, June 15 - July 9, 2017. WHAT founder Gip Hoppe returns as Gardner Church, joined by Laura Esterman as Fanny. Naomi McDougall Jones makes her WHAT debut as Mags. Painting Churches is directed by Daisy Walker.

Gardner and Fanny Church are preparing to move out of their Beacon Hill house to their summer cottage on Cape Cod. Gardner, once a famous poet, is now retired and slipping in and out of senility as his wife Fanny valiantly tries to keep them both afloat. They have asked their daughter, Mags, to come home and help them move. Mags agrees, for she hopes as well to finally paint their portrait. She is now on the verge of artistic celebrity herself and hopes, by painting her parents, to come to terms with them and they with her.

Dates of Note: Pay WHAT You Can to see Painting Churches on Friday, June 16. Stay for a reception with the cast on Opening Night Saturday, June 17. A Playmaker Talkback follows performances on June 22 and 29.

Tickets start at $20 and may be purchased online at what.org, at the WHAT box office, or by calling 508-349-9428. Student tickets are $12 and senior discounts are available.
